Creating an Exceptional Family Home and Garden for Functional Family Life, Inside and Out
We transformed this semi-detached property by designing a bright and expansive single-storey rear extension, achieving a seamless connection between the interior and a thoughtfully remodelled rear garden. Utilising Planning Consent achieved by previous owners, our contemporary design features large high-performance windows and striking bi-folding doors, inviting abundant natural light through three rooflight set in lean-to grassed roof. The extension's form harmonises with the existing house, creating a cohesive aesthetic.
Our comprehensive approach extended beyond the extension itself. Internal alterations were carefully planned to create a functional family hub, including a dedicated utility and larder and clear, intuitive circulation routes. The design provides a comfortable and safe family snug that flows effortlessly into the open and interconnected dining and kitchen space. Recognizing the importance of external living, we remodelled the garden area, creating distinct zones perfectly suited for three young children and their parents to play, relax, and connect.
Expert Design, Navigating Complexity, Delivering Excellence
Ensuring the structural and technical integrity of the design involved close collaboration with a structural engineer. We meticulously prepared documentation to secure Building Regulation Approval, guaranteeing the project's safety and performance standards. Understanding the dwelling and site's constraints, we proactively addressed a shared boundary with a Party Wall Agreement and obtained necessary Southern Water approval to build over a public sewer. To ensure a smooth and safe construction process, a detailed CDM checklist was issued. This project stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design and meticulous execution. By maximizing light, creating functional flow, and seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor spaces, we delivered an exceptional living environment perfectly tailored to the clients' needs. The successful completion of this rear extension and garden remodelling has significantly enhanced the family's lifestyle and undoubtedly added substantial value to their home in a sought-after location.
